This series of races might be off the radar despite many Pacers participating in individual events, such as the Apperley Bridge Canter (ABC), Pudsey 10k or Eccup 10. Also, there are opportunities to count in local Parkruns at Roundhay and at short events at Hyde Park. See below for a draft calendar.

It's free to register. Many Pacers - including Mark Smith, Jim Wheldon and Tony Mawson - all figured well in 2013. Importantly, if you're consistent and reliable then you've got a great chance of claiming a top finishing position. See below for the online registration link.

Good luck!

The Leeds Athletic Network puts in a tremendous amount of work on our behalf, and the Leeds Race Series is one initiative they are promoting. The series has been relatively poorly supported in the two years since it started, but given the number of runners who are members of eligible clubs, which must run into the thousands, it has the potential to be the pre-eminent local competition.

Bob Jackson (Valley Striders) the current Chairman of the LAN is the main mover behind the series. He deserves a bigger take-up in 2014. Kirkstall are already in there mob-handed - we can surely match them at the very least. It costs nowt, which should appeal to PPs and all the main local races are included.

Why not get across to Roundhay for a Park Run any time in March - fastest times over the month take the points - and see where you rank after that first 'event'. Using Kirkstall as an example again, last year they nominated one particular Saturday for the Roundhay Park Run and used it as a mini 'club trip'.

The Series is well worth supporting. Let's get entered. It all helps to raise the PP profile.
ps: one John Marshall is LAN Treasurer..........

Otley 10 - entries have opened... otleyac.org.uk/otley-10-mile-road-race/

Really good and challenging race with some 'slightly undulating' sections that provide amazing views of Wharfedale.

Just a reminder for you Pacers to:

a) Register for the series
b) Support the efforts of Jim Wheldon and Mark Smith to reclaim titles won
c) Run ANY parkrun at Roundhay in March as a qualifying score (or do a few and try to better individual performances...)

And, if you fancy a bit more than a 10k, but daunted by the thought of a half marathon, then why not try the Eccup 10... entries opened 1st March. Closed roads, Eccup reservoir, tech T-shirt, great race.

The Eccup 10 on July 13 is a Yorkshire Vets AA Championship race, which for prize qualification needs to be entered by the closing date.

Thanks for the link Neil, the vets have not yet sent me details for the YVAA website, so looks like I'll be copying your link from above.
