It's the first time anyone has called me a history buff.
I agree it would be great to know more on the races' histories, but I only have a single spreadsheet with my own results on since the early 80's including (where it was possible) number of finishers in race, race winner and friends'/clubmates' results around my level.
The other time I did the Pudsey 10k challenge was in 2002 when J Noon of P&B won it.
I remember running one of the races one year (haven't got it recorded for some reason) where the time of the winner, Brian Eden of Leeds City was by far a world record for the distance. That was until the organizers realized they should have run 3 laps instead of just 2! I think the lap was from PLC to the Cenotaph; down Carlisle Road, Fartown, Roker Lane, Littlemoor Road, Robin Lane back to PLC. When they subsequently ran it as a 3 lap 10k many thought it was a good few hundred metres longer than 10k (maybe it took in Greenside, can't remember).
