Hi,

Meltham 10K is scheduled for the 31st January. This date clashes with out own WYWL XC. Therefore, Meltham 10K is not included as a race within the series as we will all be running the XC or Marshalling.

I'll include it on the off chance 5+ Men or 4+ Women turn up but it is not a series race and therefore included regardless of numbers (As brid Half was for example). Hope this doesn't foil anyones plans to sneak an easy 50 points in by being the only Pacer racing:)

Brass Monkey Half Marathon 24/01/2010

Some very impressive results at the fast and flat eary season half. Well done all, Paul takes top points by some margin when adjusted. A littel closer in the Ladies with a cluster of runners very close on the adjusted time.

Womens subject to change as there's a new member, Rachel Parkinson, for whom I do not have details (John if you could send the latest member list on please).

Hiya, yes it was me - for some reason they changed my name to Rachel! I did ask them to change it on the day but obviously they didn't!! Though if the real Rachel Parkinson ran faster than me I wouldn't mind having her time!!

I love this thread!!! please don't archive it Mr Pop... :P

Please can we have the current list of 'counting' races as a sticky topic for reference? Otherwise it means scrolling through every post to find it...

Hi,

I'm proposing to take the South Leeds Stadium 5K out of the series - I originally included it as a 5 mile race (as it has been in previous years). £10 for a 5K run seems a bit steep, I know it is for charity but don't see why they have removed the 5 mile race. Especially hard to Justify when you can run the Park Run the day before for free.

Anyhow if anyone disagrees, now is your chance to say.

Darryl.

Dewsbury 10K

Results from Sundays Race. A Close battle for the top points in the Mens with James taking all 50 by 6 seconds, in the Womens Susan maintains consistency taking all 50 points again.

Souths Leeds 5K is no longer a counter in this series - no one objected so it is withdrawn.

Liversedge Half 14/02/2010

Enough male pacers, especially David's, from the pacers to make this a counter. James is putting on a strong finish to this competition, taking another 50 points for the second week running.

Yorks XC

Andy - looks like all our big names were saving themselves for this head to head. Great result for the team well done all. Now to carve into the team ethic and pitch you head to head...

Nationals looming - who is going to get the bit between their teeth and close the gap on the people around them - and in doing so get a better team result

National XC

Great event with a lot of the faster runners showing their hand again. Darren maintain consistency taking 50 points, 6 out of 6 so far, Jim shows his class and a potential threat for next years comp with a strong 2nd. John gets in front of James on this one - does that make up for Dewsbury? Andy gets one over on his cousin Nige by 2 seconds when adjusted - is that the spikes (I know I could have done with spikes in places). A cluster of runners around 48/49 minutes and yours truely proping up the back showing total impartiality in this competition - 4 secs behind Dave though, if only I'd sprinted harder.

In the ladies, a core team of 4 placing well in the team results. Karen takes 50 points, with a good points earned for all to help towards the final standings.

Snake Lane 28-02-10

A busy weekends worth of racing - especially for those that doubled up. Doesn't seem to have slowed anyone down though. Andy - I assume 'Andrew Hardman' is you in the results! Great name

Well done all. The competition is drawing to a close - looks like the vets race is the only firm remaining chance to get some points in (potential for more races if 5+ Men, 4+ women turn up to an event). Table updated in the other thread.

Musings. Looking at the results and comparing Andy Teals placing in the Yorkshire XC compared with the National XC; he's the big mover. for sure closing the gap on all the people - seemed to close the actual gpa by 2 minutes on those in front of him at yorkshire compared with Nationals.

I know he wore XC spikes and I know I slip slided in fell shoes. So worth a pair of XC spikes for 2 minutes - 15 secs a mile.

http://www.sportsshoes.com/products/?q= ... try+spikes

Good time to buy some cheap ones for next year.

Meltham Vets 07/03/10

The Final schedule race in the series. There's a few weeks left so if any ther races attract the required min numbers then they will count.

Darren makes it 7 out of 7 but with a couple starting to breath down his kneck. Should make for an interesting year next year if Jim and Rob get their boots on regularly. Karen takes 50 points and again, a threat for next year if enough races are put in.

Tables updated in the other thread. Very close in the ladies compeition.
