Forth coming Trips - Plate Race/Mucky Duck

Postby Jenny Cooper on 2010-03-04, 14:41

Hi all

Two dates for your running and social diaries

21 March - XC Plate Race - Heanor (Derbyshire) - Seats are available to book on the Pacers Bus - see John Marshall or Jenny Cooper. Plan is to run & win the "Plate" (small tip tray if last years is owt to go by), few drinks round Heanor, bus home. Cost will be approx £10 including bus and race entry fee. Times to be finalised but will be about 8.15am kick off from Pudsey. We need as many runners to do this race as possible.

30 May Bank Holiday Sunday - Mucky Duck 8.5 miler - Driffield - usual set up as in previous year, run race, few drinks while we collect trophies etc, drop off in York for more drinks/food then back to Pudsey. As it's bank holiday most people won't have work Monday so few more drinks can be had in Pudsey. Cost of this will be about £10 for transport - you'll need to enter race yourself. See Driffield Striders website for forms and John Marshall or Jenny Cooper about booking seat on bus.

Feel free to bring along partners, friends etc.. as it is a social event that just happens to have a small running element included.

Cheers.

Re: Mucky Duck Trip, May 30.
The cost mentioned of £10 is fairly reasonable for a coach trip of approx 130 miles. Recently though it seems to have jumped to £15 which seems far too expensive, even if the "free raffle" is included. If it's the same coach as for the Plate Race, there will be a surprise on-the-day charge for the loo too, which as I remember, couldn't cope with a mere coach load of drinkers. Any chance Jenny, of renegotiating with this bus company, or another one? We might attract more takers then.
