The guidance reads "runners should be prepared to carry [the full fell race-type regalia]" (OWTTE). To me that suggests you don't have to. Personally I think carrying all that gubbins in Summer over a fully flagged course is overkill and would rather not.

Anyone who's done it before able to comment on what is expected of runners?

Cheers

The event is licensed under the Trail Runners Association (although FRA also referenced in terms of kit items that may be required). In previous years this has allowed the Race Organisers with the flexibility - in good weather - to reduce the need to carry anything. I think I may have taken a jacket last year as heavy rain forecast.

I've ran it 3 times, kit never been enforced nor checked. Guess there's always a first time but if they did there would be a lot of unhappy punters.

Re water, There has been one at Mastiles in the past and one at Bordely - that I can recall. In a fell race assume no water and any is a bonus. . I've used a camelback in the past when it has been hot - personal choice, I know some folk ca run without water. For me 2 hours in the heat and I need a bit of fluid.

Yep - I'm the same Darryl, that's why I asked. Think I will run with my invov8 bladder bag which holds all the kit anyway and then just take a view on what to carry depending on conditions and what everyone else is doing

thanks
