Digger told me to run the Rhyl 10 without my watch for a change, I didn't fancy doing this as I like to have an upload to Fetch / Strava from all my runs. What I did instead is set the virtual partner to my current PB (1:21:43). For the first 5 miles I had a quick look at my Garmin and it was showing well ahead, the watch was displaying 26 though I don't know what this equates to in distance? I spotted various splits around the 7:31 mark so in my head I figured I was 3 minutes ahead of my PB and well under 80 mins. Happy days.

When I turned the final corner to see the clock on 79:55 I was mortified, I engaged full sprint mode but ducked in at 80:11. I hoped that I might gain a few seconds on the chip time, but unfortunately only gained 1.

Lesson learnt: Set the virtual partner for your target time NOT your PB. Ho hum.

Still thrilled with my PB, just wish I'd flicked the mode over to time in that last mile!
