Called in today, great beer and a total make over, happy to host socials, no charge. Call in you'll be surprised.

I went in a few weeks ago and checked in via FB, seems it had a reputation in the past which links to EDL and other such extreme groups.

I agree, as regards make over and beer and yes you spoke to us about use for socials etc...

I stopped drinking there after the Pudsey EDL / Anti Fascist League fracas. Glad to see that times have changed, new broom and all that. Cracking pint of Kirkstall Pale.

Ha ha, I read this thread last night while Ann & I were actually in the Royal. Of about half a dozen people in the pub, 4 were fighting!

An exaggeration, but one undesirable was ejected (no it wasn't me!).

The visit didn't start off well as the ale I fancied just expired, and the others were a bit bland, and while they do have the excellent Staropramen on draught, a real ale drinker shouldn't have to default to lager, so after a couple of Jennings it was off to the Commercial.

Agree with the Royal as a good venue for club socials, meetings, etc.
