I have a day off work booked, fingers crossed for some nice weather and planning on cycling some of the stage 1 tour route a week on Thursday.

Not exactly sure on what route but something similar to the following to avoid the long flat start and hit the climbs

www.strava.com/activities/147278709

If anyone would like to join me it should be a good time to ride it with all the villages getting decked out for the fast lads making light work of it a few days later.

Darryl.

Hi Darryl

I would be interested in this provided I can travel at "sub hero" pace.

I assume that we park in Grassington and cycle the route from there?

Hi Tony,

Grassington works if you want to get around the top part of the route and do Buttertubs climb and Reeth etc. From Ilkley it would be about 120 miles which is probably a bit much. You could go from Ilkley and do 80 odd miles but you would probably get to the Hawes area and need to think about routing back before you've done the most iconic parts of the route.

So I'd probably go for Grassington yes. I'm thinking of Grassington-Buckden-Aysgarth-Hawes-Muker-Reeth-Leyburn-Masham-Lofthouse-Pately Bridge-Grassington

Don't worry about the pace, we'll just go at whatever we can do and whoever is strongest out of anyone who wants to join can go at the front and push the wind so the rest shelter. There's plenty of climbs for people to open the taps and put some efforts in and then regroup at the top.
