Just part way through reading this book by Boff Whalley (Chumbawamba band member and P&B runner) evangelising about Willd Running as he coins it

The Valley gets a mention:

When I first began to discover runnable paths and trails, when I first ran up a mountain (and ran back down again), when I first raced around the Yorkshire Fells - I knew I'd found something life changing. A mud-splattered baptism in the storm-swelled quagmire of Pudsey Beck, a forest -track-to Damascus moment along the canal from my house in Leeds to Bramley Fall Woods.....

There's some great parts in the book and some not so great - constantly whining on about why people race road marathons and the commercialism of it all. Live and let Live! for an Anarchist he's a bit keen to see people to confirm to his view of the world.

I was going to get it but was put off by the amazon reviews of his views of the commercialism of running. surely there is room for everyone, if you want to 'wild run' just bloody get on with it. I'll stick with my copy of 'Joss'for inspiration.

I could do a swap with Boff's other book <<Footnote>> when you have finished.

Tiff,

Will probably have finished it by the end of next week - would be good to do a swap for his other book although I'd like it back when done as it was a Christmas present from my young uns'

Happy to lend out to anyone who fancies a read of it. It did get some 'poor' reviews on Amazon but I think they were poor because the readers took exception to his position. I agree with a lot of what they say about the book but it doesn't make it a bad book, more of an interesting one because it provokes a bit of a debate in your own head about his position and your own view of things - that makes it a worth while read.
